Moffat worth following at Redcliffe tonight

By Duane Ranger.

In-form Tamborine reinsman, Trent Moffat, is worth following at Redcliffe Paceway tonight.

The 27-year-old has three drives tonight – two of them are favoured, but odds don’t seem to matter to Moffat.

Yesterday he got the outsider of the field home in race one at Albion Park. The Kay Crone trained Defensive Guy (4 – pictured) got up at odds of $22.70 in the third heat of the Springboard 2yo Series.

In fact, Moffat has had four winners in two meetings. Yesterday he also reined the Ricky Gordon trained Spring Campaign (2 – pictured) to win the eight race.

In fact, Moffat drove two other Gordon trainees at Redcliffe Paceway on Sunday, steering Jilliby Gizmo and Chromozone to win races two and six respectively.

“The trainers are making me look good, but it’s been a great week. I’m grateful to every horseman and owner who gives me the chance to drive for them,” Moffat said.

When asked to comment about his three drives tonight, Moffat replied:

“It’s a tough night on paper, but I think Blackjewel is my best winning chance. No matter what happens I’ll be driving to win,” Moffat said.

Moffat’s three drives (with race, time, trainer, draw, form, and opening odds):

Race 3 (6.25pm): The Ricky Gordon trained CHINOOK WINDS (8) 33882 – $26.

Race 7 (8.20pm): The John Cockburn trained BLACKJEWEL (1) 48174 – $5 third favourite.

Race 8 (8.50pm): The Des Pollock trained CARIBBEAN ROCKET (3) 46423 = $6 fourth favourite.
