Fancy lining up one of the favourites in the Group One $100,550 Qbred 2yo Colts and Geldings Final at Albion Park on July 25?
Last Saturday night’s very impressive 12.6 metre Burwood Stud 2yo Pace winner at Albion Park, Uncle Shank, will come up for sale this weekend at the Darren Ebert & Co Ltd Mixed Standardbred Online Auction.
The online Sale runs from mid-day this Friday (July 17) until 4pm on Sunday (July 19). The auction link can be viewed here. http://www.darrenebertauctioneer.com.au/2020-mixed-standardbred-online-auction.php
“You can bid on him on Friday or Saturday; sign off on him Sunday; and then on Monday nominate him for the Group One Triad that runs on Saturday.
“This is a real scoop for us. Uncle Shank looks something special having won two of his three races so far. His owner wants to sell him, which is a bonus for us because he’s above average and can easily win the big one on Saturday week,” Ebert said.
“The owner is also selling the family which includes Uncle Shank’s mother, Presidential Night (by Presidential Ball), who won three races, and his little weanling half-sister,” he added.
But that October 2017 son of Warrawee Needy is not the only quality racehorse who will be up for Sale.
“We’ve got 23 horses going under the invisible hammer, including racehorses, untried horses, weanlings, and broodmares.
“We will also be selling last Thursday’s Redcliffe winner, Melton Max Gentle (Bonomax – Melton Gentle) as well as last start Redcliffe place-getter, Melton Lucky (Quality Cam – Melton Maxine).
But Ebert insists there’s quality throughout the Sale.
“We will also be selling a full-sister to the Group One winning Governor Jujon. Her name is Doolittle Di (by Cammibest) and her mother Fifth and Broadway won nine races. This is a quality purchase because the dam has only left two foals,” Ebert said.
Then there’s 3-year-old Cammibest – Smiling Fibs filly, Amaya Becomes.
“She’s a quality filly who has won six of her 23 starts and just under $50,000. It’s a real bonus to have her on our books as well.
“We’ve also got a couple of Sebastien K weanlings up for sale too. They are colts out of Fiona Jay and Jessie Bessie. It’s a quality Sale all right,” Ebert said.
Now that he is no longer a butcher, Ebert said he was now concentrating on his auctioneering business full-time.
“I think Covid19 has ensured that this form of auctioneering is the way of the future. We did it at this year’s Redcliffe Sale and that was a huge success.
“Although there are reserves, this Sale is offering up some quality standardbred horse-flesh that have already proven themselves on the racecourse.
“There will be some amazing bargains and great opportunities to buy a really nice horse,” Ebert said.
