Scott Hewitt wasn’t afraid to go and sit parked with the Dean Cernovskis trained Stormy Raider (5) in R10 at Albion Park. Hewitt just bided his time in the ‘death-seat’ before unleashing the black gelding at the 300m.
Stormy Raider then raced away from them to win oh so easily by 5m. He paced the 2,138m mobile in 2:34 even (mile rate 1:55.9) and his sectionals were 30.3, 29.3, 28.1, and 28.4.
The 7-year-old son of Village Jasper has now won 11 of his 69 starts for owner, Mick Sullivan. He’s also placed 18 times and netted just under $80,000 in stakes.
Stormy Raider was bred by Sullivan and R. J. Whyman. He was the $2 second favourite.
