A classy drive from Justin Elkins has ensured victory for the Don Hancock trained, owned, and bred Subtle Delight (8) in R2 at Albion Park. Elkins was locked away three-deep along the markers, but managed to manoeuvre the 6yo into the one-one down the back straight the last time. That was the winning of the race.
The Bettor’s Delight gelding then careered away in the straight to win by 5.8m. He paced the 2,138m pace in 2:32 even (mile rate 1:54.4) and his sectionals were30, 28.8, 27.5, and 28.1.
Subtle Delight, who paid $7.90 to win, has now raced 129 times for 20 wins and 35 placings. Tonight’s win took him past $150,000 in earnings. That was his sixth victory in 28 starts this season.
