Craig Cross’s raid on a revised Winter Carnival couldn’t have started any better after the New South Wales trainer won the first race at Albion Park tonight behind the $1.60 favourite, Culture King.
The Art Major 4-year-old entire and Leonard Cain charged across the field around the first bend, and from that moment it was catch me if you can. They couldn’t.
The 4-year-old, who is owned by the Ready To Run Syndicate won his 15th win from his 30th start by 3.9m. He paced the Band Five Pace in 2:31.8 (mile rate for the 2,138m mobile1:54.3). Sectionals: 29.3, 29.6, 28.9, and 26.9.
Culture King was bred by Neil Costello.
